Unkers, remember Sha-Na-Na?
You know I used to watch them on TV in the early '80s with my late father. And he would do a credible imitation of the Bowser 'action'. The one where the
de-facto star of the show, Jon 'Bowser' Bauman, the greaser with the slicked-back hair and black leather jacket, does a bicep-flex with his fist pointing towards his gaping mouth =)) Used to have little 'ole me in stitches.
Sha-Na-Na started the craze in the doo-wop hits of the 50's. And even inspired the broadway musical
GREASE.
No wonder that on the movie's soundtrack, they have more than a couple of real gems including Those Magic Changes (playing now), Born To Hand Jive, Rock And Roll Is Here To Stay, Tears On My Pillow and Blue Moon.
Great band, great memories. And here's my little tribute to them.
Boy I'm really an unker =))
