I spent the good half of this afternoon scolding people.
Last on the list, a group of junior officers whom I suspected of malingering on weekends. That took almost an hour cos there were 6 of them, 3 couples who were husband-and-wife, boyfren-girlfren, tag-teams of MC magicians. Magicians because they magically fall sick on Saturdays and Sundays. I threatened 'forced-divorce', at least at the workplace, and they begged to be given a last chance =))
Before that, there was this bozo who tried to borrow money from his supervisor. A sizeable sum I may add. Just after I lectured the guys and gals on money management and the need to keep a check on their finances and expenditure. And to see me personally if they ran into moolah-mayhem outside of work. Desperation can get one into alot of trouble where I ply my trade you see.
And even before that, my runner-cum-PA, who does all of my admin work. Well after I vetted and cleared an important report up to the boss, he still sent the wrong copy, riddled with errors. Idiot. I nearly let fly the remaining files on my table, especially the ring-ed ones which would have caused considerable head trauma if they landed correctly =))
But the person I should have scolded the most, made a near-fatal operational mistake at the start of the shift, which could possibly have cost the dear Inspector her job. And because I could not bring myself to give the senior officer a good dressing down, the rest that came after her got 3-times more, the required amount of caustic verbal diarrhoea they justly deserved.
Excessive collateral damage from an earlier internal implosion. Geddit?
