Mamma Mia! Its Pasta Mania

Finally, after 64 games, 32 teams and 30 days of frenetic fussball action, the curtain has come down on the biggest sporting tournament of the world. At the magnificent Olympiastadion in Berlin no less, that had me and my soccer buddies ooh-ing and aah-ing at its architectural grandeur in the sunset.

So for now its goodbye...

and hello...

Throughout the World Cup, I was rooting for Germany. And while I was also ooh-ing and aah-ing over Klose, the tournament's top-scorer, K was swooning over another K. Klinsmann =)) Yes, women!

Anyhow the Finals, was to me, a game of 2 halves, with Italy dominating in the 1st and the aging warriors of France taking control of the 2nd. And although I was behind Les Bleus all the way, I don't want to take anything away from the Azzuri whom I thought also showed lots of resilience, so epitomised by their Captain Courageous, Cannavaro.

I am just left with a real sad tinge of regret that one of the greatest players of our time, possibly the last of the bona-fide Playmakers left in the game, had to leave the pitch in such utter disgrace. And Zizou was not even allowed to get on the podium to receive his losers' medal. Not that he wanted to I suspect anyway.

So its South Africa in 2010 next. In the meantime, let the Pasta Mania begin!!! =))

hurray for the guidos...oops, that was a tinge racist...apparently like the comments "whispered" by materazzi to zizou just before zizou decided that he wanted to become a WWE wrestler...

sad end to an illustrious playing career...endeth in infamy...

man, that kaninavaro is damn good!! not a foot wrong the whole 120 minutes... =))

Canavaro who is 1.75m stood up like a 2m defence tower siah...

Zizou will always be zizou for all the good things he did...there as much abuse as a man can stomach...anyway by that stage i thought it wasnt as critical

well, still...it's still hearsay but am sure that something was said that provoked the man...

oh well, a blot at the end...you know lah...people remember the bad things first and foremost and frequently overlook the good...it's just human nature...

Well if maradona ...if george best...if eric cantona...if romario...can all be remembered as hero...y not Zizou? In footballing sense, his touches and composure is second to none and greatest of his time.
