Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini...

If you know what this is without Googling, you're probably a kloset klassical kuku like me.

When the hip Alternative Rock wave of the early 90s decended upon us, I banished all my Rachmaninov, Liszt, Chopin, Mascagni, Dvorak, Schumann and the like into the inner recesses of my storeroom. Such stupid self-consciousness!

These days, while alone at home, Tchaikovsky alternates with Timbaland. I have a penchant for the Russians, Hungarians and Polish you see.

Anybody into this genre? Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Modern for u? Vladimir Ashkenazy or Nigel Kennedy? Academy of St-Martin-in-the-Fields or the Berlin Philharmonic?

Perhaps Opus Copulatest... =))

hmm..i'm quite partial to the various types of 'classical' music. i like different types for different well, moods/ambience/occasion.

you'll hear gershwin at my wedding probably. heh. no canon in D please.

Baroque's abit boring with all the thematic variations. i like bigger sounds and more instrumental variety. That being said, I don't mind listening to a good pianist or violinist 'do their thing' but it wouldn't be the 'only thing' i'd listen to within the whole spectrum of music the 'classical' composers have given us.

I'm not big on specific ensembles, orchestras etc. I'll be happiest listening to anything Symphony 92.4 plays.

oh..not too much opera please..but maybe only cuz i haven't sat through an entire operatic performance before. perhaps i should do so one of these days. i mean, i didn't like any choral previously until i help in the production of a church choral last year at UCC. It's actually quite nice!

That being said...i currently have Canadian Brass on my player. hee.
