"The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership." General Colin Luther Powell, United States Army (Ret.)I don't usually give a damn about quotations. Especially when people plaster them all over their workstations, in meeting rooms or have a new one everyday as an email signature. Quite the
ad nauseum actually.
But I find myself thinking about this one lately. Ironically, I first saw this pasted in a toilet many years ago. Sorry GEN Powell, Sir! =))
Some people think no bad news from their subordinates is good news. And everything's fine.
But izzit?
I fear the day their problems stop coming to me. As it is, they are not as forthcoming as before. But first I have to solve problems of my own.
